Pet Portrait & other pictures |
|
Since 1985 Pet Portrait Artist Aron Gadd has travelled the country, producing wonderful and accurate studies of horses, ponies, family pets and country homes. To create his unique animal portraits Aron studies and spends some time with his subjects, gaining their confidence and discussing with the owner the composition of the painting and the particular image they are looking for. Notes of the animals' unique colour tones are made, and an extensive set of photographs are then taken to record the animal in a number of poses, including close up shots. These enable Aron to produce the outstanding detail which is the hallmark of his work. A photograph is then chosen by the owner to ensure the animal has the perfect expression. |

Aron works in Artists coloured pencils. His palette consists of over 80 colours, and a finished picture looks rather like watercolour but with greater depth and detail. Asked how he manages to achieve the sense of character and feeling that his drawings emit, he puts it down to an empathy with animals "I feel it is important to bring out the soul of an animal, not just a likeness from a photograph." |

Aron's sympathetic and unique interpretation of equestrian subjects has prompted commissions of Desert Orchid, Grand National winners, Red Rum, Aldanti and West Tip, and Carnival, a polo pony owned by H.R.H. The Prince of Wales. His horse portraits have been purchased by owners and trainers alike and adorn the walls of racing enthusiasts all over the world. An animal portrait is a wonderful way to remember a treasured member of the family, and can be a unique and personal gift for a loved one that will be a joy for years to come. |
